The Aquatees Undergravel Filter is a versatile and effective filtration system designed to improve water quality and circulation in your aquarium. It can be used with powerheads or air pumps to draw or push water through the undergravel plates, providing both mechanical and biological filtration.

Even if space is limited, you can easily add chemical filtration by enclosing activated carbon or other media in porous filter bags and placing them beneath the substrate. The sturdy plastic grate sits under your aquarium gravel, allowing water to flow freely underneath and be filtered as it passes through the gravel layer.

By increasing water movement and oxygen flow through the substrate, this system helps promote beneficial bacterial activity — accelerating the nitrification process that converts harmful ammonia into nitrites and then into less toxic nitrates. This reduces the risk of metabolite poisoning caused by excess waste, uneaten food, or livestock loss, helping maintain a stable and healthy environment for your aquatic life.
